Latest Updates from Our Project:

THANK YOU ALL: Campaign complete & pledge manager
12 months ago – Mon, Apr 07, 2025 at 09:02:23 AM

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR SUPPORTING US!

We’ll shortly be moving to the Backerkit pledge manager. On there, you’ll receive a survey prompt for your shipping details and we’ll also be able to take late pledges there.

Physical Copies of Dr Dhrolin’s Dictionary of Dinosaurs:

We’ve had an overwhelming number of new fans pick up Dr Dhrolin’s as well! Thank you all so much for picking it up. We’ve had so many that we’re actually having to do a dedicated print run for it. That means that there will be a few weeks’ delay before we can start shipping those out. This will also help with regards to the tariff point discussed below. A silver lining I guess!

Due to Backerkit’s systems, we can’t lock your address, then unlock it later for the PPPP shipments. That means that, if you picked up a copy of Dr Dhrolin's, you must ensure that your shipping address is correct and there won’t be a chance to change it later. Please take extra care when entering it.

Please remember that postage & import fees will be charged later for this shipment.

The horrible burning question: Tariffs?

We’re working closely with our logistics partner to minimise tariff charges, but there will indeed be some to pay for our USA-based backers. However, the key thing to remember with PalaeoGames is that we manufacture in the UK! We’re committed to supporting local industry and reducing our carbon footprint. That commitment may well pay off for us in the long run.

Another secret sauce for PalaeoGames: our books are educational. Educational materials are generally exempt from normal tariffs and currently the USA only imposes a 7.5% tariff on imported educational material.

However, the important thing to remember is that everyone is struggling with these sudden changes, and everything is a bit chaotic at the moment. It’s entirely possible that all of these tariffs are gone or changed when we get to shipping PPPP next year. Nevertheless, we’ll do everything we can every step of the way to keep costs down for you and ourselves, as well as keeping you informed.

Thank you!

Thank you all again for this amazing opportunity and chance to write our book. We’re really, really excited to show you what we’ve come up with and will be sharing progress as writing and illustration continues.

All the best,

Dr Barling

One final shoutout:

Please don't forget to take a look at our friends' Kickstarter Living Legends. Roll For Combat are a great team that have helped us a lot, and we work with some of their team on the Pathfinder versions of our books. Please support them if you can!

Thanks!

Hey everyone,

Tonight (in less than 2hrs), we’re joining our friends over at Roll For Combat for a livestream to discuss Professor Primula’s Portfolio of Palaeontology. They'll no doubt be grilling me about some of the finer details of the book. So, pop on over and check it out once we're live to learn more about what we’ve got planned!

While you're at it, you can also check out their currently live project Battlezoo Ancestries: Living Legends!

All the best and see you there!

230K and new adverts dropping soon!
12 months ago – Tue, Apr 01, 2025 at 07:19:37 AM

Hey everyone,

We’re just about to breach the £230k mark, putting us well on track to hitting our final stretch goal! To help us along the way, we’ve got some massive adverts dropping soon from some of your favourite YouTubers.

First up should be The Dungeon Dudes! We’ll see that one drop in the next day or so.

After that will be a couple more dropping in quick succession. You can expect to see ads from Crit Crab and Paleo Analysis too! More details on those will follow as they drop.

Just as a reminder, our friends over at the Eren Chronicles are running a Kickstarter campaign inspired by the grim, cautionary tales of Slavic and Balkan folklore! It’s reaching the end, so there’s only a few hours left to back it! Check out ZAMANORA: Ballad of the Witch!

ZAMANORA: Ballad of the Witch introduces heaps of new content. Immersive mechanics, more than 20 character options, over 75 monsters, spells, curses, ceremonies, folkloric relics and adventure locales sprung from the realm of myth are only a part of what this rustic setting has to offer. Moreover, everything is going to be compatible with a number of different TTRPG systems: namely D&D 5e, D&D 2024 and the Legend in the Mist RPG!

Like us, Zamanora use Real Art by Humans 🎨. They have a firm “no AI” policy and we love them for it! There are only about 48 hours left to support! So, check them out before they’re gone!

Thant’s all for now everyone!

All the best,

Dr Barling

Progress so far and an awesome project
12 months ago – Thu, Mar 27, 2025 at 12:37:43 PM

Hey everyone!

It has been just one day since we hit the £200k mark and set out sights on the lofty £300k for the Pathfinder Second Edition version. In that single day, we’ve already hit nearly 10% of the way there. How crazy is that?! So, it’s looking more and more likely that we’ll smash £300k, especially considering most projects have a pretty big spike at the end too.

I’d like to take this opportunity to once again thank you all for your amazing support. Mike and I are already busy at work writing and spinning ideas for the stat blocks that are both exciting and accurate. We’ve come up with some real doozies too. We can’t wait to show them to you, but playtesting will come first!

I’d also like highlight another project here. This one is slightly different from our usual cross-promos. TTRPG Cards Made Easy has just launched its kickstarter! They're creating a toolkit that lets you craft handy creations for your table, and have even incorporated some of Professor Primula's content into it. Created by a fellow TTRPG creator-scientist, Dr. Dan of DanDMadeEasy, this project is well worth checking out.

Importantly, the team behind TTRPG Cards Made Easyare huge science education advocates and make charitable donations to schools to help encourage education through TTRPGs for children and young adults. The philosophy behind their projects is one of genuine care and they deserve to be support by both us and this amazing community. I’ve already made my pledge for them, I hope you will too.

So, without further ado, I present TTRPG Cards Made Easy:

With TTRPG Cards Made Easy, you can craft custom cards, GM screen hangers and more at home using any art you have available. Customize your cards at home, choose your card back, and print with your home printer or local print store.

Anyone that backs TTRPG Cards Made Easy after following this link will get a special extra – a set of adornments compatible with Professor Primula’s species and subclass options so you can bring your paleolithic adventurers to life.

Thanks again for checking it out everyone and we'll be back again soon!

All the best,

Dr Barling

Nearly reaching 200k! What will it get us?
about 1 year ago – Mon, Mar 24, 2025 at 12:19:35 PM

Hey everyone,

We’re just shortly about to hit the next stretch goal – unlocking a gigantic 3D model for all backers who pledged with digital reward stretch goals! In case anyone is unfamiliar with it, the 3D model is for Paralititan, a titanosaur sauropod from northern Africa. This enormous dinosaur inhabited the same environment as Spinosaurus and full rules for it can be found in Dr Dhrolin’s Dictionary of Dinosaurs!

Check out just how big this titan was:

Yeah. That lil' thing is the giant Spinosaurus... This artwork was illustrated by Mark Witton for Dr Dhrolin's and really helps carry the magnitude of this animal. It makes for an amazing encounter.

While we have you here, we’d like to show you a project that our friends over at Studio Agate are working on.

Secrets of Magic

After the critically acclaimed Creatures and Encyclopedia series, Secrets of Magic launches a brand-new collection of toolboxes for 5E—this time centered on magical lore and wonders! Bring fresh excitement to your next campaign with a trove of new lore, player options, and additional rules, rekindling the sense of wonder that magic brings to your 5E game!

Compatible with both the 2014 and 2024 versions of 5E, as well as the major new installment in the Fateforge universe, Secrets of Magic is a 250+ page tome brimming with magical content, spellcaster-focused options, potion brewing, item crafting, new archetypes, sublimation rules, and much more!

Based in France, Studio Agate is an indie studio gathering a dozen creators. They have become specialized in the creation of imaginary worlds, the writing of scenarios, and transmedia. They design role-playing game books (including Shadows of Esteren, the most award-winning French RPG), music albums, and video games. They also translate and publish licenses of great games (Brancalonia, Iron Kingdoms, 7th Sea, Vampire: the Requiem) under the Agate RPG label.

That's all for the moment. I'll likely be back with another update soon when we hit the 200k mark!

All the best,

Dr Barling
